DongZhi is written as "冬至 (Dōng zhì) in Simplified Chinese. The first chinese character "冬 (Dōng)" means the winter season, while the second character "至 (Zhì)" in this word is equivalent to the word "extremely" or able to be understood as "solstice" although it has other different meanings depending on the context.".
DongZhi in China is not only a traditional festival, but more importantly, it is one of the famous 24 Solar Terms, which was exclusively invented by the ancient Chinese as the traditional Chinese calendric system.
