What is 5G Mobile?

什么是 5G 手机？ [Shén me shì 5G shǒu jī]

5G mobile phone is a smartphone using the fifth-generation of the communication system. The current 4G phones we are using could not receive 5G wireless signals. Therefore, a 5G wireless signal transceiver should be set down into future smartphones. In other words, we have to replace the existing 4G phones with 5G mobile phones to help us support and experience the 5G network.

5G 手机是指使用了第五代通信系统的智能手机。目前我们使用的手机是无法接收到 5G 无线信号的。因此需要在手机中内置 5G 无线信号接收装置。换句话说，现有的 4G 手机是无法支持和体验到 5G 网络的，必须更换为 5G 手机。

After 5G licenses granted for commercial usages in China since June 6 2019, top Chinese carriers started to deploy and build 5G base stations in China, and have already ordered a large number of 5G terminal equipments for testing and optimizations. It means that the first Chinese 5G mobile phones are coming soon to the China market, which are likely to be released in the rest of 2019. According to the industry estimated, the initial prices of these Chinese 5G mobile phones are up to at least ￥8000 Yuan RMB or even higher.

自 2019 年 6 月 6 日，中国提前授予运营商们 5G 商用牌照后，中国运营商已经开始在中国各地部署和建设中国 5G 基站，且已采购大批 5G 终端设备，进行测试、优化。这些意味着中国的首批 5G 手机很快会在中国国内上市了，很有可能集中在 2019 年下半年发布。根据业内预估，首批中国 5G 手机的初上市价格将在至少 ￥8000 元人民币以上。

01 | Huawei Mate X 5G Foldable

HUAWEI Mate X 5G is China Huawei Company’s first 5G mobile phone, and also its first foldable smartphone. It can fold out as an 8-inch tablet, and split into two capable screens after folding up, one with a 6.6-inch screen while the other 6.38-inch.

Huawei Mate X 5G Foldable rolled out at MWC 2019 (Mobile World Congress 2019) in Barcelona, Spain on February 24, 2019, as HUAWEI’s first concept phone featuring with its foldable screens and 5G support.

Real-5G Environment Speed Test: 

According to the test result from Huawei's laboratories in Shanghai on June 4, 2019, HUAWEI Mate X 5G foldable smartphone achieved a download speed of over 1 Gbps and an upload speed of nearly 100 Mbps after accessing China Unicom's 5G network.

实际测速： 2019 年 6 月 4 日，华为终端手机产品线总裁在上海研究所办公室，用 Mate X 经 Speedtest 测试，连接中国联通的 5G 网络后，5G 下行速率超过了 1 Gbps，上行接近 100 Mbps。

02 | Huawei Mate 20 X 5G

HUAWEI Mate 20 X 5G is almost the same as the appearance of Mate 20 X (4G mobile phone), only differing in a conspicuous and Huawei-branded 5G logo on the back.

华为 Mate 20 X 5G 版在外观上与 Mate 20 X 的普通版基本相同，仅在手机背后带有一个显眼的、华为专属的 5G Logo。

HUAWEI Mate 20 X 5G, as HUAWEI's second 5G mobile phone, is also powered by HUAWEI's first 7nm multi-mode 5G chipset - HUAWEI Balong 5000 modem, and equipped with HUAWEI's own Kirin 980 processor. HUAWEI Mate 20 X 5G phone also has a 7.2-inch large OLED screen and Leica triple rear cameras, including a 40 MP (megapixel) standard lens, an 8 MP telephoto lens, and a 20 MP Leica Ultra-Wide-Angel lens. It reduced to a 4200 mAh capacity battery but upgraded to 40W super fast charging, called HUAWEI SuperCharge.

On June 25, 2019, Huawei Mate 20 X 5G has already obtained China's first 5G device telecom equipment network access license with the license number of 001, which means that HUAWEI Mate 20 X 5G smartphones will go official in China very soon.

On July 26, 2019, Huawei held a Huawei terminal media communication conference with the theme of "Connecting the Future" in Shenzhen city of China, where Huawei Mate 20 X 5G smartphone is officially released as Huawei's first dual-mode commercial 5G mobile phone, as well as ¥0 RMB (zero-yuan) pre-orders were launched.

2019 年 7 月 26 日，华为在中国深圳举办了主题为"联接未来"的华为终端媒体沟通会，在会上正式发布了华为 的首款商用 5G 双模手机 —— Mate 20 X 5G 版智能手机，同时开启 0 元预约。

Since HUAWEI uses its own Balong 5000 baseband, and on the other side Qualcomm Snapdragon X55 modem which also supports NSA and SA 5G networks will not appear in many smartphones until 2020, HUAWEI Mate 20 X becomes the only one dual-mode-dual-sim Chinese 5G mobile phone in 2019 which can support SA and NSA, 5G and 4G/3G/2G networks at the same time. Other 5G phones with similar features will be available in 2020 at the earliest.

HUAWEI Mate 20 X 5G ’s real phone was rolled out at 5G Malaysia Showcase event in Malaysia on April 18, 2019. Then appeared in Switzerland on May 3, 2019.

In China —— The first batch of HUAWEI Mate 20 X 5G mobile phones are scheduled to start on sales from August 16 of 2019 at 10:08 AM in China, the edition of 256 GB storage with an initial price of ¥6199 CNY (approx. $899 USD). Later it can be bought from Huawei's Official Store, China's major e-commerce platforms such as Huawei's Official Flagship Online Store on Tmall, Huawei's Self-Operated Official Flagship Stores on JD and Suning platforms, as well as its offline channels such as Huawei Smart Life Museum, Huawei Experience Store and other Huawei's authorized retailers.

From the speed test of China's 5G network for commercial usage during April ~ June 2019, the download speed of HUAWEI Mate 20 X 5G mobile phone can reach from 800 Mbps to 1 Gbps after accessing China carriers' current 5G network environment.

OPPO Reno 5G is a newly designed generation of OPPO mobile phones, not based on its original products.

OPPO 这款 5G 手机是一部全新设计的新一代 OPPO 产品，而非在原有手机上改造而成。

OPPO Reno 5G uses Qualcomm Snapdragon X50 5G modem, and equipped with Snapdragon 855 mobile platform - Qualcomm's flagship processor.
